Workshops and Events
At Knit with attitude we offer a wide range of crafty classes aimed at various levels of experience; knitting, crocheting, sewing, you name it. So why not use this spring to learn a new skill or freshen up those old ones? All will take place in our new, welcoming and well lit workshop area, separated from the shop, giving space to focus and be inspired. You’ll find all relevant info on the courses’ contents, materials needed, how to book, and so on by visiting the Workshops and Events section.

Introducing Mikono Knits
Knit with attitude is so proud to announce that we've included a small,
but exquisite selection of Mikono Knits knitwear in our range of products.
Mikono is the Swahili word for “hands”. The name of the company – Mikono Knits – therefore means handmade knitwear. The vision of Mikono Knits is to be an inspiring ethical fashion label, creating stylish and unique knitwear, thereby providing a sustainable source of income for underprivileged Kenyan women. Natural Kenyan wool and cotton are the raw materials utilised in the designs. Drawing mainly on Western designs, African ‘flavours’ are added using African handmade buttons and beads. Each garment has a tag attached telling you which one of the Mikono Ladies who made your unique Mikono Knits. Mikono Knits were featured in Business Daily early in December, to read the article please follow the link.

Knit with attitude in the press
Occasionally Knit with attitude is featured in a knitting/crochet magazine, sometimes I’m asked to contribute on articles on eco-friendly and ethical knitting, and once in a while I actually write for magazines myself. I've gathered some of these articles on the blog. Simply click Press and writings to find the articles. Happy reading!

There are only two basic stitches in knitting, with which all other stitch patterns are made. The two basic stitches used in knitting are the knit stitch and the purl stitch. The purl stitch is essentialy the back of a knit stitch, so is worked almost exactly backwards of the way a knit stitch is worked. Variations of these two stitches make all the patterns in knitting.Knitting is an activity that stimulates both sides of the brain simultaneously. Research has shown that knitting has a preventive effect on developing Alzheimer's disease.
